All-Japan greco-roman wrestler in college, can grapple
on the mat against the best of them. Aside from
training at the New Japan dojo, works on his striking
skills at one of the most prestigious kickboxing gyms
in Japan. Is known for his suplexes, kicks, and
submission skills. The complete package. Has one of
the prettiest suplexes in all of Japan. Won the G1
Climax Tournament in 2001. Fought Jun Akiyama of NOAH
this year at the Tokyo Dome, the first time in history
that an IWGP champion and a GHC champion faced off.
The two are lifetime rivals, but also have a deep
mutual respect for each other, as they have known
each other since their days as amateur wrestlers. Is
the originator of the Nagata Lock. His motto is "Be Ambitious." |
