Perhaps no other professional wrestler expresses their
whole value system, world view, philosophy and all
that they believe than Nishimura. His style of "catch
wrestling" may not fit in to the mainstream of
wrestling as we see it today, but he has always
refused to change his style or accommodate himself to
the constantly evolving environment. Was diagnosed
with cancer in 1999, was told by his physician to make
a choice between retiring prowrestling or continuing
wrestling and risking his life. Nishimura chose to
continue to wrestle. Took time off and went to India,
conquered the cancer and came back to Japan as a human
being that overcame the biggest obstacle in life.
Claims to express that resilient human spirit on the
ring. A lifetime disciple of Fujinami. Believes in
Muga. Muga in Buddhism means "no-self." Has never won
any major titles, but that doesn't seem to matter in
his case. |
