In Japan there is a myth out on the streets that
says in a street fight, no one could beat a
professional sumo wrestler. Yasuda used to be one of
those sumo wrestlers. Prior to joining New Japan,
climbed all the way to the rank of Komusubi, only
three promotions away from being the grand champion,
the Yokozuna. Retired and decided to start a new
career in pro-wrestling at the late
age of 32. After a few years of
wrestling with no major accomplishments,
left NJPW to issue himself the biggest challenge of
his life by fighting in mixed martial arts. Choked out
Jerome LeBanner of K-1 with a guillotine choke at the
Inoki Army vs K-1 New Year's Eve show in front of
20,000 and live tv audience.
Yasuda fought in the main event as the unanimous
underdog. Place went crazy when he made LeBanner tap.
Fought for his fifteen year old daughter he was forced
to leave behind because of a bitter divorce with his
wife over his excessive gambling problems. Proved his
love for his daughter and determination to get on
with life and make things right. The sleeping giant
awoke that night. |
