LYOTO MACHIDA INTERVIEW FOR JUNGLE FIGHT
You have won against Kengo of PANCRASE on your debut match in ULTIMATE
CRUSH No.1, how was Kengo as a fighter?
Strong but I'm guessing he was very nervous.
Were you nervous?
So, so.
You have overwhelmed Kengo by techniques and many other aspects winning by decision. Do you think you can finish the fight earlier next time?
It's hard to talk about fights before it happens.... I can't predict
anything.
In the end of the second round, you had Kengo in a full mount and was
pounding on his bouncing head. Referee didn't stop the fight, but it did look like Kengo was knocked out, you raised both hands up, you thought you won?
Yes, I thought I won (laugh). The bell rang, and the time was up, so
there's nothing to claim about.
Right after the bout, you walked over to Mr. Inoki, and he slapped and
punched you. That was different from the famous Inoki Spiritual
Fighting Slap but how did you feel?
People who were watching probably wouldn't understand. It's something
between me and Mr. Inoki only, I understood the meaning of it. It hurt very much, but I was happy. That's why I trained a lot harder this time, I have many things to prove to Mr. Inoki.
In PANCRASE, there are many more fighters, would you be interested in
fighting them?
I'll fight anybody, I'm not in a position yet to give out names. I just have to practice hard and prove my style to the world.
Kengo's boss, Suzuki Minoru of PANCRASE did the TV narration of your
fight that night. Suzuki Minoru obviously leaned more on Kengo, would
you like to fight Suzuki? Have you ever seen him fight?
I know he's fighting in the NJPW ring right now, but I've never seen his fight. I don't mind fighting him, there's no problem.
